Why I charge an initial consultation fee. Many people are naturally curious about the law, but are not necessarily serious about taking immediate legal action or they may simply not be interested in actually hiring a lawyer. Without an initial consultation fee, too much of my limited time is spent educating people that are simply curious but have no immediate need or desire for legal services. By charging an initial consultation fee, I limit appointments to people who are serious about seeking a solution and who are ready to proceed. The initial consultation fee is a minimum of fifty dollars ($50.00) for the first 30 minutes of my time and does not include any document review.
This policy does not apply to up to a 1 hour consultation for estate planning clients that have completed the estate planning questionnaire, divorce clients that have completed the divorce intake form or serious personal injury clients. These forms are available here.
Payment of the consultation fee does not constitute an agreement for the firm or David M. McCleary to represent you. Please pay the initial consultation fee when you complete and return the Client Intake Form.
